Your Insider Access Point to Japan’s Hard-to-Reach Experiences

I’m Ichiyo Hiroshima, Director of Japan Relations at JPN Guides. Born and raised in Niigata, I’ve spent my life moving between cultures, languages, and industries that all center around one thing: building understanding between people.

My professional journey has taken me from the skies as a flight attendant to international real estate offices, and most recently, into high-stakes boardrooms as a translator for some of the world’s largest companies doing business in Japan. Along the way, I’ve become fluent in Japanese, English, and Mandarin Chinese. Skills I now use daily to help our clients unlock access to the best of Japan.

These days, I’m often the one making the call that gets you the seat at that impossible-to-book restaurant in Tokyo or Osaka. I’m also the voice behind the scenes, connecting with local governments, tourism boards, and small businesses. Helping shine a light on Japan’s hidden towns and cultural gems that deserve more attention.

What I love most about my work is making the impossible happen. Whether it’s securing a hard-to-get reservation, translating cultural nuances in real time, or helping bring new partnerships to life, my goal is always the same: make every experience seamless, memorable, and true to the spirit of Japan.

For me, hospitality isn’t just a job. It’s the mindset I’ve carried from Niigata to California to Tokyo and back again. I’m excited to help make your Japan journey as extraordinary as the country itself.
